Easy Scone

Three-ingredient scones are a simple and quick variation of the traditional scone recipe. These easy scones typically require just self-raising flour, cream, and soda water. Despite the minimal ingredients, they come out light, fluffy, and delicious. This recipe is perfect for quick, no-fuss baking, and the scones pair beautifully with jam and clotted cream. I have made this so many times and it’s always a hit among my friends.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups self raising flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup soda water
  • 50ml cream for brushing the top of the scones

METHODS

  1. Preheat the oven to 220ºC. Line a large baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Mix ingredients: Combine self-raising flour, cream, and lemonade in a bowl. Stir just until a soft dough forms.
  3. Shape and cut: Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 3 cm thickness. Use a cutter to form round scones.
  4. Bake: Place scones on a baking tray and bake for about 12-15 minutes until golden.
  5. Serve scones warm or at room temperature with whipped cream and jam, if desired.
